We took a 6 a.m. flight from Bangkok to Koh Samui, a small island in the Gulf of Thailand. We were in Koh Samui by 7 a.m.

We caught the sunrise during our flight.

View of the island from the plane.
Our destination was the Viva Vacation Resort, a family run bed and breakfast on the west side of the island. The mom is the chef and her son Chris does pretty much everything else. He checks people in at the front desk in between taking orders in the restaurant. We love his multiple roles. You never know where he is going to pop up.

The resort's canine. He was a chunky puppy so they named him "pork stew."

It was an all out beach day.

Possessed geese squawking at us.

Some beach walking and exploring.

Followed by a sunset pool swim.

Then dinner at Big John's, a beach front restaurant. It is still off season, so we were the only patrons in the restaurant.

A thai style whole fried white snapper, then off to bed for a 7 a.m. pick up for scuba diving.
