It was another relaxing day in paradise. Beach, pool, eat and then repeat.

Our flight to Chiang Mai via Bangkok departed at 6 p.m. Waiting for our plane to depart Koh Samui airport was like hanging out in a beach cabana. It is an open air terminal with free juice, coffee and complimentary snacks. There are computer terminals for public use and free wifi. They even have carved wooden benches for lounging in the grass and fish tanks near the entrance to the bathrooms. Everyone, including me, was walking around taking pictures like it was a tourist attraction.

The shopping plaza in the terminal.

The main gate looks a bit different than JFK.

An open air gate.

Who doesn't love free coffee, tea and snacks. They even had free blueberry juice.
We arrived in Chiang Mai around 10 p.m. The area was flooded for three days, but the water has receded and it is up and running again. We are hoping Bangkok does not flood as predicted because we have connecting flights through there later this week.
Tomorrow we are heading to the Patara Elephant Sanctuary, where we each get our own elephant to care for during our visit. Rumor has it that the sanctuary has three baby elephants right now, so we are very excited to visit with them. I'm a little nervous about jumping on a 10,000 pound animal and riding around on its neck, but it does sound fun. I hear bathing it can get a little messy. I guess we will find out tomorrow.
