Today was pretty much a travel day. It took us most of the day to drive from Pushkar to Delhi. We left Pushkar at 9:30 a.m and arrived in Delhi at 6:30 p.m. I figured Lalit was ready to head home, so I headed to the airport to kill time. I had a 2:30 a.m. flight from Delhi to Bangkok on Philippine Airlines then a 10 a.m. flight from Bangkok to Luang Prabang, Laos on Laos Airlines.
Farewell, Lalit. He asked for my address to send me a handmade scarf made from the wool of his sheep. His family makes them during the winter months at this home near Ladakh. What a treat that would be.
I had 8 hours to get a picture of the Delhi International Airport. I read The Help, which was a great book.
I had a few farewell meals.
Palak Paneer.
My favorite, tandoori chicken.
In Delhi, I checked my bag through to Laos to avoid going through immigration in Thailand. I noticed after I passed through immigration in India that my luggage sticker had the correct airport code but the wrong flight number for the connecting flight. It was bound for Laos, but on a different airline and at a different time. It was an adventure the rest of the day trying to make sure my bag made it on my connecting flight. When I told them I was going to Laos, the next question was which country. I said Laos, they said yes, but which country. I put the odds of receiving my bag pretty low. In Bangkok, my bag was bound for another plane, but the gate agent rescued it and put it on the correct plane. At least I think....
The flooding in Bangkok is bad and getting worse. They have managed to keep the water out of the downtown area, but they aren't sure how much longer they can divert the water.
I hope the next time I blog I am sitting in Laos with my backpack nearby.
